Description

WOBURN, MA — Woburn police warned Monday of recent "paving scams" reported by residents. Paving scammers knock on residents' doors offering to pave the driveway at a reduced rate. Typically they say they're doing work in the area or that they have extra pavement. They demand cash payments and require it in advance, often charging thousands of dollars. "The work done is always very shoddy at best," the police said. Paving scams are particularly common in the spring, the department said. "Never agree to have any company perform any work at your residence until you have verified they are a legitimate company," the police said. "It is best practice that you research and seek out the companies to do the work at your residence, not the other way around." The department said to never hire or pay companies that contact residents at home. "You can always contact the police department at any time for assistance," the police added.
