Description

Heyo, I'm D, 26yo, and I’m a musician from the socal (LA-OC-IE) area in the US. I’ve been a drummer for roughly 11 years now, on-and-off bassist for the past few years with the last year being spent on consistently practicing the bass (as opposed to just playing around with it and maybe learning a cover once in a blue moon, previously). I feel comfortable enough to play the bass in a band, at least more than I was when I first initially joined bands when I was younger as a drummer. I have experience in performing live, recording, composing songs, and improvising in my years as a drummer. My favorite bands and influences that are relevant to this project include Interpol, the Moving Units, the Strokes, the Drums, Molchat Doma, and Dry Cleaning—if we have an overlap let me know! The gist of this post is that I’m looking to start a band / music project and I am looking for members: a guitarist or two, a vocalist, a keyboardist, and POSSIBLY a drummer. Going for “sad but horny vampire disco” vibes—if you get it, you get it. First things first: here are the band influences that I am drawing on—I do not want to copy these bands sounds, but I do prefer something that revolves around similar sounds/tone/vibes/mood. Again, if we have similar tastes do let me know! We can be losers about it lol. band influences: Interpol, the Strokes, the Drums, Dry Cleaning, Molchat Doma, Arctic Monkeys, the Moving Units, the Smiths, the Cure, the Editors, Luz Futuro, Margarita Quebrada, Human Tetris, Motorama, Daise, China Woman, FILMMAKER, Soviet Soviet, slowdive, Depresion Sonora, the Killers, Perturbator, FrioLento, Boy Harsher, Franz Ferdinand, Hypomanie, PVA Secondly, some genre influences that I feel should impact the music’s sound in some way: genre influences: Indie, new wave, postpunk, darkwave, coldwave, dark italo, dance punk, Spanish post-punk/80s music, shoegaze, vaporwave, experimental rock, psychedelic rock As far as to how the band / music project will look like, I’d like to operate democratically. I am going to have to be kind of picky, but the idea is to be picky in the musician selection so that the democratic process will gel better and be smooth. I think it is pretty basic to ask for a few key things from anyone who would like to hop on in: have access to an instrument and basic gear, have a job (I would like to contribute to this project w $$$ and would prefer if I am not the only one footing the bill), access to transportation, be willing to put in effort, and be able to communicate your needs/wants like an adult. On top of that, no bigots or predators allowed—you know who you are, you know what I am talking about, and I am fully committed leaving if anything like that pops up or is tolerated. In an ideal world, this project will practice weekly (or bi-monthly if more of a long-distance collaboration), be open to playing live shows, and is eager about creating new music to play live and to record. Also open to covering favorites! Let me know if you’re interested, I won’t add more to this wall of text unless I remember that I forgot something lol. Email me with some brief information about yourself, your musical influences, what you are looking for in music, and any other information you deem relevant.
