Description
We are seeking a Production Clerk to temporarily oversee all shipping and receiving functions. In addition, the Shipping Clerk will be collaborating with multiple departments to ensure the location is safe, up to code, and operating well.
This opportunity will be approximately 6 months.
Responsibilities:
File records on incoming and outgoing shipments.
Prepare items for shipment according to the specifications mentioned.
Prepare necessary documents for internal shipments.
Determine methods of shipment by utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, rates, and routes.
Prepare containers or contact third-party container manufacturer for items to be shipped.
Attach Bill of Lading (BOL) or shipping label(s) onto container or crates.
Inspect and unload incoming shipments, observe and document shortages if visible then document on Bill of Lading.
Document (take photos) of any damages to items received the person(s) that is/are the receiver of damaged/shorted items.
Notify receiver(s) of incoming items.
Order and maintain inventory of shipping supplies.
Ensure necessary information and documentation is conveyed from the shipping requestor to production clerk.
Qualifications:
Ability to safely operate forklift.
Familiarity with major freight carriers.
Able to calculate cost of shipping.
Skill to interpret packing slips.
Ability to correctly fill out bills of lading.
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
Must be a highly positive, collaborative person who enjoys working with other departments.
Strong computer skills; may include shipping software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory, along with excellent organizational skills, problem solving ability and a high attention to detail.
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
