ISO - small/midsized male puppy/young dog

Looking to adopt a puppy or young dog. My partner and I live in a lower level duplex with a fenced in backyard. No other pets or children in the home. Looking for an active breed that is medium sized, prefer males; we are open to breed but a few breeds we like are aussies, beagles, border collies. We are absolute dog lovers and have experience growing up with dogs and caring for them. I work from home and will be with the dog most of the day.
