Farm Production Assistant (Seasonal, May – August) Full Time Seasonal POSITION SUMMARY The Farm Production Assistant is responsible for providing production assistance on the Farm to the Farm Production Manager through crop, equipment, and facilities maintenance. This position works closely with Farm staff and volunteers to ensure program goals are met. The Farm Production Assistant is based on the Farm in Raleigh but travel to the Malone Center and other locations in our service area is required as needed. RESPONSIBILITES • Assist in crop production and operations to include transplant preparation; soil preparation; pest and weed mitigation; harvest and post-harvest handling using GAP practices. • Work with volunteers as needed. Able to articulate clear objectives; communicate how to use equipment correctly and safely; demonstrate proper cultivation and harvest techniques; guide and assist any other tasks. • Grounds Maintenance to include mowing, trimming • Follow Farm Safety Guidelines and Safe Food Handling Guidelines. • Maintenance of tools, equipment and facilities • Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. • Ability to work positively with a team. • Experience operating farm machine equipment preferred • Farm experience preferred • Ability to pass a criminal background check. • North Carolina Driving License and clean driving record. WORKING CONDITIONS Frequent physical work outdoors, in all weather conditions and temperatures can be anticipated, with extended hours as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
