We currently have an opportunity available for an Artisan in Cypress, CA. Position Overview: In charge of designing and building custom hard surface samples. Assist in all aspects of sample manufacturing including scheduling, assembly, inventory control, packaging and shipment. Essential Functions: Assist as needed to keep the department operating efficiently. This requires that the employee be experienced in all department jobs and equipment. Must have an aptitude for basic carpentry skills. Ability to complete tasks in order of priority and to customer specs. Ability to design, layout, produce and label custom samples. Calculate sample material needs for production orders. Schedule order sequence to the production floor. Must be able to assist, oversee, train, and provide direction to workers. Maintain sample raw material inventory. Unload, count, verify, inspect, and store raw materials for sample production. Cut, saw, glue, assemble, label and package hard surface samples. Operate equipment essential to the production of samples such as wood saws, routers, tile saws, glue machines, drills, ladders, pallet jacks and packaging equipment. Perform quality audits of production paying close attention to accuracy of information and quality of sample. Must process, package, weigh and load freight shipments Fill out production sheets and produce daily reports. Update files and maintain work order information. Must have good computer skills to update work order progress in sample system and track materials Follow all established safety guidelines and rules. Non-Essential Requirements: Maintain confidentiality on any and all uses pertaining to to Shaw Industries Any other tasks requested by Supervisor or Management. Required to participate in or lead stretching exercises. Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe, clean workspace. Change powered pallet jack batteries, if necessary. Knowledge/Skills: Must be able to read and write numbers in English. Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to communicate in writing and verbally. Proficient in computer operations. Must be able to record, analyze, comprehend, and interpret data. Must be able to meet frequent deadlines. Must have high school diploma or GED. Must be able to stand and/or walk 5-7 hours per day. Must be able to lift, reach or carry objects as necessary, up to 75 lbs. Must be eligible to drive a lift truck. Must be able to bend, stand, stoop or reach multiple times/day.
