Bach composed an enormous quantity of brilliant instrumental music during his lifetime. In the Concerto for Violin and Oboe in C Minor, 1060 he masterfully blends two solo instruments with the orchestra creating an enchanting work in which the two instruments dovetail and engage in conversation with each other and the orchestra throughout. C.P.E. Bach was J.S. Bach’s second son and an influential composer in his own right. He was a prolific writer of concertos, and his Flute Concerto in D Minor, Wq 22 is a great example of these virtuosic and dramatic works. In addition to the two exciting instrumental works, CBE returns with a choral ensemble for the first time in over a year with a performance of Cantata 4, Christ lag in Todesbanden. This is surely one of Bach's most well-known sacred Cantatas. It is a wonderful example of his chorale cantatas, where every movement makes use of a pre-written chorale melody by Martin Luther. ==================== *IMPORTANT INFO* Although this is a free concert (free will donations accepted), you must reserve a ticket ahead of time.
