South Bronx Community Based Programs - RealKids Afterschool Part-Time and Seasonal Originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to annually serve more than 2,500 youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of six PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. Reporting to the Social Work Manager, the Seasonal Social Worker will be responsible for providing ongoing support of a large number of elementary school aged youth at a summer site. This is an exciting opportunity for a person experienced with providing support to programs and individuals in a school-based or youth development setting. The ideal candidate would be skilled at working closely with kids providing crisis intervention while collaborating with staff on behavior management techniques. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide ongoing support to a large number of elementary school aged youth at a summer site; Complete intakes with families, in regards to youth behavior and academic concerns; Provide "at risk" counseling services to individuals and groups of identified students; Design curriculum and facilitate social work groups and workshops for youth and caregivers; Provide crisis intervention - assess high-risk situations and make immediate recommendations and referrals to ensure child safety, and follow-up for youth as needed; Engage families to promote parent involvement and positive youth outcomes; Collaborate with and train staff on behavior management techniques and other strategies to support youth; Design and deliver staff trainings and professional development; Promote DREAM's mission, values and organizational policies to all program staff and stakeholders; Reports to REAL Kids Social Work Manager QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree in Social Work; LMSW preferred; Bilingual (Spanish speaker) preferred; 1+ years of experience facilitating groups with elementary school aged youth required; Experience providing direct service to youth who have experienced trauma; Ability and desire to work in a non-traditional setting; Experience and cultural competence in working with black and Latino youth and parents; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Able to work independently in a fast paced environment. COMMITMENT July 6, 2021 to August 13, 2021, with potential to start June 1 if candidate is able to Hours: Monday-Thursdays from 8:00am-5:00pm, Fridays from 8:00am-3:00pm.
