Job Title: Cama Beach Summer Livery Attendant Reports To: Cama Beach Summer Manager Hours: 40 per week, Wednesday through Sunday Type: Seasonal May-September, dates negotiable Wage: $17 per hour Job Description: The Center for Wooden Boats is seeking a Cama Beach Summer Livery Attendant to staff our Cama Beach campus from May to September 2021. Located on Saratoga Passage, in Puget Sound, the Cama Beach Livery is a seasonal, salt-water operation bringing people of all ages and skill-levels into contact with historic small boats. The Livery Attendant is responsible for quality customer service and the safe operation of CWB’s fleet of rental vessels onsite at Cama Beach State Park. We are looking for a rugged individual with a strong boating background that would enjoy interacting with guests while operating a fast-paced boat rental facility. Primary Responsibilities: • Enhance the Cama guest experience by delivering excellent service • Handle rental of motorboats, rowboats, sailboats, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards (including beach launching and storing of vessels in the evening) • Instruct guests and answer questions on basic boat handling, outboard operation, crabbing methods and local history • Ensure an uncompromising commitment to safety • Operate support vessel, provide towing assistance when needed • Maintain facilities, vessels and equipment • Promote compliance with state fishing regulations • Process point-of-sale transactions • Maintain a positive working relationship with Cama Beach State Park Staff and partner organizations • Clean CWB Boatman’s Cabin for renters and Boathouse for occasional events at Cama Beach campus Qualifications: • Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills • Broad experience with boats and the maritime environment, preferably in a saltwater setting • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment • Ability to perform physically strenuous work in outdoors in all weather conditions • Valid boater’s safety card, driver’s license and ability to pass a background check • Basic computer skills • Familiarity with boatbuilding and maintenance; experience with outboard maintenance preferred • First Aid/CPR training • A passion for being on the water, historic small boats, seamanship, and building community Interested candidates should reply with a cover letter and resume.
