Welcome Community in celebrating Duafe Designs - Waist Beads by Ayodele and15 years of business at a new storefront location in Oakland Please join us in celebrating the Grand Opening of Duafe Designs - Waist Beads by Ayodele in Downtown Oakland block party style!!! Enjoy a day of entertainment, music, DIY bead activities, henna art, and an outdoor market featuring and celebrating other Black Woman-Owned Businesses including Fairy Glow Mother, Queen Hippie Gypsy, Runway Boutique LA, Goddess Crowns by Nakia, The Healing Place Apothecary, Yoga Love, 36 N West, Stephanie’s Ginger SnapShots,Henna by Lexx Marie Arts, Love Homemade, 3rd I Boutique & The Nail Pro. First 50 existing/veteran customers to arrive will receive a VIP Goodie bag with a variety of beauty and wellness offerings from local Black Women-Owned businesses. A pre-packed lunch option will be provided by Hella Nutz - A Black Woman-Owned Plant Based eatery of Oakland, Ca. Food tickets must be prepaid via Eventbrite by June 3, 2021 to reserve your meal. Feel free to participate in our raffle fundraiser supporting Duafe Designs’ youth internship/ employment program. $1 Raffle tickets are available via Eventbrite and on-site at the Grand Opening. Raffle Prizes will include gift items from Duafe and each vendor including valued at a minimum of $50. Winners not present will be notified by email/phone. All guests must RSVP via Eventbrite and adhere to Covid-19 safety precautions by wearing a mask and not attending if in contact with anyone with Covid-19 within 14 days prior to the Grand Opening event and if exhibiting any Covid-19 symptoms . Blessings History: Duafe Designs was established in 2004 featuring unique handmade jewelry, handbags and clothing by Owner/Creative Designer Ayodele Kinchen. In 2006, Waist Beads by Ayodele was born under the Duafe Designs umbrella, and since, has become Duafe”s driving force furthering the mission to uplift, empower and inspire girls and women. Duafe Designs started as a home-based side business where Ayodele worked from her kitchen table and living room after work which extended to weekends sewing, crocheting and crafting. Her business outgrew her home and she graduated to a studio space in Berkeley, Ca. As business and her family grew in size, Ayodele made the pivotal decision to quit her 9-5 job in 2013, dedicate 100% of her career time to Duafe Designs & Waist Beads by Ayodele and gain her independence and freedom as her own boss . At the end of 2019, Ayodele decided to elevate her business with a storefront in Downtown Oakland. Excitement grew as she prepared for her grand opening in 2020. However, Covid halted all plans in March 2020, postponing all Grand Opening plans and forcing temporary closure under quarantine orders. Despite the challenges of maintaining above water during a pandemic, Ayodele has persevered and Duafe Designs - Waist Beads by Ayodele is here to stay . She is committed to her community as a healer and culture keeper of her art and traditional craft as well as mentor to the High and College school students she employs. Ayodele plans to position Duafe Designs as one the Bay Area’s & Oakland’s must see places to visit and experience. Her product lines extend to handbags, jewelry, hair accessories, African material, cultural home goods, and health and wellness products/tools. Ayodele’s services include jewelry-making classes , women wellness workshops, private parties, corporate events and motivational speaking.
