Press release from the City of Newton: 05/10/2021 Due to popular demand, Historic Newton is once again releasing videos from its House Tour showcasing the work of pioneering female designer Maud Brodrick, and adding a panel discussion that features four contemporary "Groundbreaking Women of Newton." Tour videos will be available for viewing Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23. The panel discussion takes place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 23. A marketing genius with no formal training in architecture, Brodrick, a Newton resident, developed and sold hundreds of homes in the 1920s and 1930s, when few women worked in the field. Panelists in our discussion have demonstrated a similar pioneering, entrepreneurial spirit: The tour videos will be available for viewing Saturday, May 22 – Sunday, May 23, with the panel discussion taking place Sunday, May 23 at 3 p.m. on Zoom. Tickets, $25 (Historic Newton members, $20) provide access to the tours and the discussion.
