EAST HAMPTON, NY — After 28 years of dedicated service, East Hampton Village Police Capt. Anthony Long is set to retire on Dec. 31. East Hampton Village Police Chief Michael Tracey reflected on the news, announced at a village board meeting Thursday. "During his 28-year career in the East Hampton Village Police Department, Capt. Anthony Long has led the 911 dispatch center and helped implement rules and procedures that guide operations today. He was instrumental in implementing emergency medical dispatching to the village, which is a process many centers do not yet have." In addition, he said, Capt. Long has been "a constant influence, formulating policies and procedures that keep the department in state accreditation compliance. His legal and technical knowledge, as well as his guidance, will be missed in both police and public safety dispatch." Additional reporting by Richard Lewin.
