MCLEAN, VA — On May 6, The Potomac School hosted a College Athletics Signing Day event to celebrate 11 seniors who committed to playing college-level sports. The senior athletes honored at the event were Noah Alexander (soccer, Bowdoin College), Andrew Bernstein (swimming, Amherst College), Henry Boehm (baseball, Hamilton College), Jud Cummings (wrestling, Washington and Lee University), Jay Gollob (lacrosse, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute), Matthew Granovsky (squash, Amherst College), Abby Gravel (lacrosse, Franklin & Marshall College), Alex Holmes (lacrosse, Cornell University), Brandon Potts (football, Saint Anselm College), Evelina Swigart (lacrosse, University of Chicago), and Maria Urban (softball, Lehigh University). The event kicked off with remarks from Athletics Director Erica Woda. Woda told the students the college sports commitments were a product of their hard work and sacrifices. "These students have accomplished something rare – only seven percent of high school athletes nationwide move on to play at the college level," said Woda in a statement. This event was our opportunity to congratulate these seniors and acknowledge their dedication to their sports. I am incredibly proud of this group, and we all wish them nothing but the best." During the event, coaches introduced each student athlete and shared stories about their time at The Potomac School. Seniors had the chance to offer brief remarks and expressed gratitude to coaches, teachers, teammates and families for their support.
