Princeton Offers Empowerment Program For Girls

PRINCETON, NJ – This summer, the Princeton Recreation Department will be offering an empowerment program for girls. The Princeton Empowerment Program aims to encourage girls from various backgrounds to come together in a safe space, talk about important topics, and break down social barriers. The program is aimed at girls in grades 3-6. The program begins July 8 through August 5 and will take place at Grover Park located behind Princeton Shopping Center. Girls will learn how to embrace who they are and find their inner strength to spread kindness and empower themselves in a supportive environment among friends and peers. Sharon Vunk, Anna Intartaglia, Victoria Dugan will be conducting the program. Vunk has been teaching for 13 years in the Princeton area and has experience working in many settings from schools to summer camps. Intartaglia is a junior at Arcadia University, majoring in Media & Communications and minoring in Sport Management. She is a member of the Women's Basketball Team. Dugan is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she is studying Human Development and Family Studies and Educational Studies and is involved with the Women's Basketball team. The program is open to residents of Princeton and Cranbury and non-residents who attend school in Princeton. Classes will be conducted once a week, for five weeks on Thursday, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Registration is $60 for Princeton residents, $110 for Cranbury and non-residents. To register, click here.
