JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — Visitors reported bear sightings in some Jeffco Open Space regions, rangers announced Sunday. Over the past week, bear activity was reported at Apex, Deer Creek, Windy Saddle, South Valley and Pine Valley Ranch, Jeffco Open Space officials said. No negative interactions have been reported, but park visitors are asked to keep their dogs on leashes and be "bear aware:" Be aware of your surroundingsIf you see a black bear, stay calm, don't run, and back away slowlyIf you're attacked, fight back Deadly bear attacks are rare, but they can occur, wildlife officials said.
