Description
PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island is on the verge of passing an important pandemic milestone — administering more than 1 million total vaccine doses.
Gov. Dan McKee is set to commemorate the occasion at a ceremony at Rhode Island Hospital Tuesday morning. Rhode Island Department of Health Director Nicole Alexander-Scott is also expected to attend, as well as National Guard Major General Christopher Callahan and Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos. The hospital was the site of the first vaccine administered in the state.
As of Monday, the Department of Health reported that over 989,000 doses had been administered across the state. It's important to note that this is the total number of first and second doses, not the number of people who have been vaccinated. The latest data showed that more than 587,000 Rhode Islanders had received at least one dose, while about 440,000 were fully vaccinated.
