Comcast Links With Silicon Valley Group To Combat Homelessness

SILICON VALLEY, CA — In an effort to provide people experiencing homelessness in Silicon Valley with adequate technology, Comcast announced a partnership with LifeMoves, an organization that assists the local homeless population with interim housing sites and programs. Comcast will provide internet and other tech services to many of LifeMoves' housing sites in Silicon Valley, including two new interim housing sites in Half Moon Bay and Mountain View, according to a news release Monday. LifeMoves has 26 shelter and service sites in Silicon Valley and helps more than 1,200 families and individuals daily. The pandemic has exacerbated issues facing people experiencing homelessness in Silicon Valley. "LifeMoves is extremely effective in finding solutions to homelessness and helping people return to stable homes, even as the number of people experiencing homelessness in the Silicon Valley area continues to rise," said Kristeen Cominiello, Vice President of Comcast Business in California. "As such, shelters and community programs like LifeMoves require fast, flexible and reliable network connectivity to successfully support the needs of their clients and employees." In January of 2020, LifeMoves replaced the dial-up internet at 17 of its sites with Comcast Business' internet service. "While the road ahead is long, we are dedicated to serving our community and those experiencing homelessness in the area," said Paul Simpson, Chief Financial Officer of LifeMoves. Human centered care plans supported by technology thought leaders like Comcast are essential in maintaining our commitment to our clients and ensuring they can return to stable housing successfully."
