UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side had multiple openings on Monday. First, "Restart Stages," the arts center's new outdoor venue of 10 performance areas, and the focal point of that outdoor space — "The GREEN" installation — both welcomed people for the first time Monday. The new outdoor art center creates 10 outdoor performance, rehearsal, and civic activation spaces across 16 acres of the Upper West Side. Lincoln Center To Launch Huge Outdoor Performing Arts SpaceIconic Lincoln Center Plaza Is About To Get Turned Into A Lawn The physical centerpiece of the new outdoor performing arts center is an installation called "The Green," which reimagines the 14,000 square feet, concrete space on the Josie Robertson Plaza into a grassy, park-like area for New Yorkers to enjoy this summer. Photo Credit: Sachyn Mital "The Green," designed by Mimi Lien, will be open daily from May 10 to September 2021, starting at 8 a.m. through the conclusion of daily evening performances at the new venue.
