Description

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying a man suspected of trying to break into the Tuscaloosa Public Library in April. TPD says the suspect, who appeared intoxicated, looks to be between 18 and 25 years of age and arrived at the library on Jack Warner Parkway around 12:21 a.m. on the morning of April 12. Investigators say he then used a donation drop box to shatter the glass door and enter the building and was reportedly inside for about four minutes. While TPD says it doesn't appear that any items were stolen, the suspect "turned around and kicked the broken glass." The man then was the captured on surveillance cameras unsuccessfully attempting to break more windows with a freestanding outdoor ashtray at the library's entrance and eventually left through the woods along the south side of the property. No damage was caused inside the library, police said, but several windows were broken. Those with information into this case are asked to contact the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-2121.
