Press release from the Atlanta Police Department: 05/08/2021 211281694 Preliminary information:  On May 8, 2021 at around 7:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Mangum St SW and Mitchell St SW on a person shot call.  Upon arrival, officers located a female suffering from a gunshot wound.  She was transported to Grady Hospital alert, conscious and breathing for further medical treatment.  Preliminary investigation indicates that while the female was driving her vehicle, she got into a verbal altercation with another male driver.  The verbal altercation escalated to gunfire where the female was struck.  The male suspect fled the scene in what is believed to be a dark colored SUV.  Investigators were notified and will be working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.  The investigation continues. UPDATE: The SUV believed to be involved is white in color.     Please keep in mind the above information is preliminary in nature and can change as the investigation progresses and new information comes to light.
