Description

Volunteer with Columbus Gives Back at this fun inspirational (and safe) fundraiser for Alvis's Family & Children's Program Evening of Light is Alvis' largest fundraising event of the year. It provides critical funding to the Family and Children's program, so we are able to help families reunite and thrive. It's even MORE important now that families are strengthened amid the stress of the ongoing pandemic. Funds raised will help put an END to the generational cycle of family trauma, giving kids a successful and bright future. What: This event is a drive-thru. We need support with our registration stations, door prize and message card collection, and bar hosts. Volunteers at Evening of Light will be directly impacting our mission and our clients by attending this event and playing a foundational role in the success of this program. Perk! You'll also get to listen to our clients tell their stories (live!) and receive a free dinner at the event. Where: Easton Town Center (in the parking lot northeast of Nordstrom). GPS may have difficulty finding the exact location but we recommend using the address for The Beeline restaurant at 3989 Merchants Row, Columbus, OH 43219. The entrance to the event is on Fenlon St where the yellow star is on the map below. What to Wear: Please wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing. We are going to be outside for 4 hours, so layering up is encouraged if weather gets cold. When: Thursday, May 20th (4:30pm - 8pm) Event Leaders: [email protected] COVID-19 Precautions: All Columbus Gives Back volunteers are required to wear face masks and observe social distancing as appropriate to complete volunteer tasks. Volunteers who are sick, especially with fever or the growing number of Covid-19 symptoms, should stay home. We highly recommend that our volunteers wash their hands, use hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of the event, and/or wear gloves. We will follow whatever safety policy our nonprofit partners have in addition to the safety precautions listed above. Any volunteers determined to neglect these precautions and put other volunteers or the people we serve at risk will be dismissed from the event. In an effort to keep our volunteers, event leaders, and non-profit partners safe we ask that each volunteer or event leader sign up for no more than one event in a seven-day period, in order to limit the number of individuals you come into contact with if you are exposed to Covid-19. If you were exposed before or test positive after having participated in a CGB event, please contact the event leader or reach out to [email protected] so that we can best support contact tracing efforts. About Alvis: Alvis innovates and delivers evidence-based human service programs that empower those we serve to build successful, productive lives, serving nearly 8,000 men, women, young adults and children in Ohio each year. Our programs indirectly impact tens of thousands more. We work to keep families together and make communities safer. About Columbus Gives Back: We love Columbus, young professionals, and getting involved! Our mission is to connect young professionals across central Ohio and engage them in our communities through 35-40 social volunteer and philanthropic opportunities per month. #SocialTwist: We have begun re-introducing social twists, where we invite volunteers to hang out with us after an event to have fun doing something local! As of May1st, outdoor social twists will be coordinated at the discretion of event leaders and volunteers. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your event leader or [email protected].
