ELMHURST, IL — A man is accused of exposing himself at Elmhurst Public Library and a fitness center and grabbing a 16-year-old female employee at the center, police said Friday. On April 12, police responded to a call about a suspicious person at the library. Officers were told that the man, identified as Kelvin Brown, 42, pulled his underwear above the waistline of his pants and made visible his genitals through his underwear to a woman in the library, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. Brown is also accused of running his fingers through the hair of a female library patron around the same time. He was gone by the time police arrived. Further investigation showed that Brown grabbed the buttock of a 16-year-old girl at FFC fitness center, 140 N. Addison Ave., two days earlier, police said. "It is alleged that this defendant not only engaged in lewd and disgusting behavior but also sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl while she was at work," State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in the news release. "These allegations are extremely disturbing and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law." Brown was charged with one count of felony aggravated battery in a public place, one count of felony criminal sexual abuse, two counts of felony public indecency and one count of misdemeanor attempted disorderly conduct, police said. Brown was arrested Friday. He is believed to be homeless, with his last known address in Bellwood, police said. A DuPage County judge set Brown's bond at $25,000, the news release said.
