Want to start a band? Cool. Me too. My name is Matt, and I'm a 30 year-old Raleigh-based guitarist/bassist looking to start a new project. Currently seeking a singer, bassist, keyboardist, and rhythm guitarist plus anything else that might make this interesting. Banjo? Hell, I don't know, let's give it a shot. A: Good question, person. I have played in a band before. I've been playing bass in a rock band in Raleigh for the past 5 years or so (post punk-psychedelic nonsense). Q: What kind of music are you interested in making? A: The kind that venues hire and people dance to. Stuff that would be popular around these parts. I'm thinking indie rock with a Southern twang. Q: Do you care about my gender, race, age, etc? A: No. Q: What are your goals with this project? A: I work a day job. I'm not trying to get famous (but if it happens, it happens). I am, however, trying to stay present in the local scene by making music that makes people happy, makes people dance, and has a "Raleigh" sound. I'd like to try and get gigs where we can as things start to open back up, and eventually do some recording. My main goal would be for someone 30 years in the future to look back and say, "Yeah, I remember that band. Their shows were a blast." Q: Do you want to write all the songs yourself, or would the other bandmates have input? A: Hell no, I don't want to write all the songs myself. I want this to be a true collaborative effort. Q: Do you have samples of your music? A: I put some instrumental tracks on Bandcamp, yes. I'm currently going under the name Night of Joy.
