Description
Got called by a friend to kill or capture a snake that was in her chicken coop.
I suspect the snake is female because this size would be a little abnormal if it is male. Mind you, I did not go through the effort to attempt to pop the penes. So it is unconfirmed.
I suspect she is between 7 and 8 feet long. It was a little difficult to tell while wrestling her.
She did not hiss, but she did musk me very generously when catching her. Thankfully, unlike skunks, snake musk washes right out.
She did not strike. Mind you, I am not saying that she will not strike. I am simply saying she did not strike, or attempt to strike, nor did she hiss when I was catching her.
She ate well, devouring an entire next of chicken eggs (close to a dozen eggs) on 5/8/2021.
Would appreciate a small rehoming fee - especially if any travel is involved - to help compensate for a little damage she (and I) did to my friends chicken coop to replace a few top shields for the chicken nests.
Text the number if you are interested. Rat snakes - sometimes called chicken snakes, black snakes, or pilot snakes are generally easy to tame if wild-caught and can be good pets. This snake is wild-caught, seems to be in healthy shape, and I do not attest to a friendly demeanor, but I am a little surprised at how docile she was through the capturing process.
Additional pictures can be offered upon request, though I prefer not to go handling a wild snake any more than is necessary.
