Description
I'm looking for someone familiar with sailboat inboard diesel engines, or at least diesel engines in general. I have a boat with a Perkins 4-107 or 4-108, and it currently starts and runs. However, there is a pretty steady drip (of water I assume) from the front of the engine, where the round piece is that has green discoloring in the pictures. Last time I went to start it, she had trouble (would crank fine but not catch), and when I finally got it going, it ran about 5 minutes before overheating (smoke and/or steam included). The previous owner said something about the heat exchanger possibly needing to be replaced, but I wanted to get someone out to just take a look and hopefully have some ideas on how to approach the issue.
Reach out if you think you can assist -- looking for quotes for a completed job, or to pay for an inspection that includes the 'diagnosis' and ideas for solving the issue. Also willing to trade for some website development work if that's something you're interested in. Text preferred.
