'D.B. Cooper' 50th Anniversary Festival

Events

Auburn Way North near 22nd St NE

09 July, 2021

Description

'D.B. Cooper' is the name of the unknown (and celebrated) guy who jumped from the rear air-stairs of a jetliner on November 24, 1971 and disappeared into Northwest legend. For decades, the annual celebration about him was held at the Ariel Tavern and General Store, but those ended after 2016 with the sale of the store building. We sponsored the final celebration in 2016, and now we have decided to organize a new, and bigger one. This year, the Festival (a three-day campout) is being organized in Auburn, WA and the actual event held nine miles south of Greenwater, WA in the Snoqualmie National Forest just off Forest Service road 7300. The sponsor is Adventure Books of Seattle, a small press in the Auburn area. No charge to attend. Runs from Friday morning, July 9, 2021 until Sunday morning, July 11. There is a Spaghetti Feed on Saturday afternoon, and a DB Cooper Character Lookalike Contest for generous prizes on Saturday night. (A 'DB Cooper Character' means you can dress up like one of the flight crew, one of the stewardesses, or Cooper himself.) Movies on the big screen, music, videos, and a PA system provided. There will be speakers scheduled discussing the Cooper case, and attendees are welcome to make their own presentations using our media gear if they wish. Bring your friends along if you wish. If interested, send your inquiry via the email link and we will be happy to provide full details. If you call the office phone, please do it during normal business hours and leave a return number.
