Press release from the City of Springfield: Posted on: May 5, 2021 The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is saddened to announce the death of one Greene County resident from COVID-19. This loss was reported to us between Wednesday, April 28 and Tuesday, May 4. Our community lost a woman in her 80s. The individual had an underlying health condition that put her at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19. She was not associated with long-term care. This fatality occurred in April. A total of 430 Greene County residents have died from COVID-19. Total number of COVID-19 deaths in Greene County by age group: 20s: 1 death 30s: 2 deaths 40s: 7 deaths 50s: 23 deaths 60s: 49 deaths 70s: 118 deaths 80s: 137 deaths 90s: 87 deaths 100s: 6 deaths COVID-19 Living Memorial The Health Department is committed to remembering each life lost from COVID-19 and supporting those left behind. The COVID-19 Living Memorial allows families to share stories and memories of loved ones. The memorial can be accessed at health.springfieldmo.gov/COVIDmemorial Vaccine opportunities Individuals 16+ can register and schedule an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine through the Health Department by visiting covidvaccine.mo.gov/navigator.The public can view a complete list of vaccine opportunities through our community partners, including CoxHealth, Mercy and Jordan Valley Community Health Center at vaccine417.com. Individuals who don't have internet access or need assistance registering can contact the Health Department's COVID-19 call center at (417) 874-1211. We all play a part in prevention Along with getting vaccinated, it is vital that we all remain vigilant and follow basic prevention measures to protect ourselves and our loved ones: Wear a mask Watch your distance Wash your hands Stay home if you are sick COVID-19 in our community A total of 29,099 cases have been reported in Greene County. 73 cases of COVID-19 have been reported so far in May. 215 cases of COVID-19 were reported to the Health Department in the last week.
