Description

Press release from the City of Minnetonka: May 6, 2021 Minnesota will begin enacting a three-step process that Gov. Tim Walz says will eventually lead to the end of all COVID-19 restrictions. Walz says COVID-19 cases continue to recede and, as more people receive vaccinations, he has more confidence the state can set out on a path back to normal. Step one takes place at noon on Friday, May 7. It includes initial steps to relax some restrictions, primarily in outdoor settings. That includes removing limits for outdoor dining, events and other get-togethers. The step also includes An end to mask requirements for outdoor events except at large venues with more than 500 people Elimination of the state-established mandatory closing time for bars, restaurants, and food and beverage service at other places of public accommodation Step two begins on May 28 where any remaining capacity and distancing limits will come to an end. This include restrictions on indoor events and gatherings. Requirements that will remain include: Face coverings indoors and for outdoor events that exceed 500 people Businesses and other venues must have plans that keep their employees and customers safe guided by a minimal universal state guidance document that includes no new requirements The third step will take place once 70 percent of Minnesotans age 16 or older get at least one dose of the vaccine. This will take place no later than July 1. Any remaining face covering and work preparedness plan requirements will end. Minnetonka city leadership continues to monitor new executive orders issued by the governor and will adjust social distancing requirements based on those documents.
