CULVER CITY, CA — A trash fire broke out under the Santa Monica (10) Freeway at a homeless encampment Friday afternoon near the border of Culver City and Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire was reported about 2:34 p.m. in the 5700 block of West Washington Boulevard near the 10 Freeway onramp, just east of Fairfax Avenue, Nicholas Prangle of the Los Angeles Fire Department told Patch. It was reported as a rubbish fire at a homeless encampment, Prangle said. Firefighters responded to the area and knocked down the flames.
