Greetings from The Experimental Ensemble of Cape Cod. I'm music director Scotty West. XEnsemble is a 7 piece "fusion" concert band in the Mid Cape area performing all-original compositions featuring jazz, rock, blues, classical and world music influences. We're looking for a knowledgeable and experienced percussionist with solid meter, creative, reliable, personable, a team player and able to take direction. Our arrangements are quite specific and will require memorization. Monster jazz chops are not necessarily required but we do have some pieces with odd grooves and time signatures. In almost continuous operation since the 1990s, XEnsemble is an art ensemble/concert band. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 in Cotuit and we play between 4 and 6 concerts a year. We're all in it for the love of the music... not the money. Many fine local musicians have played with us over the years. XEnsemble utilizes a Roland digital drum kit. This allows us to include various percussion sounds unavailable in the average acoustic player's kit. This also eliminates stage micing and setup issues. The system brain is the Roland TD10 which many drummers believe is Roland's best head ever. There are hundreds of quality drum and percussion samples to choose from. The kit will take a bit of getting used to but you will also appreciate the fact that you will NEVER HAVE TO HAUL AND SETUP YOUR ACOUSTIC KIT for either rehearsals or concerts. You just show up with your sticks and rock out! So let us know if you or someone you know would like to come play with us.
