Big Irish band looking for amateur or aspiring sound tech

Description

No experience required! Trying to get into live sound? Maybe a long shot, but this could be a fun recurring gig for the right person. We're Slainte, an Irish folk rock band based out of Boston. We play pubs and events and occasional festivals, usually 2-3 times a month in non-Covid times. A typical show is 3 or 4 hours. We have 11 guys in the band, and usually play with 6 or 7 of us. I (the fiddle player) own all the sound gear and am our de facto sound guy. It's all well and good, but our setup has grown more complex over the years and it would be REALLY nice to have someone to help run the board during soundcheck and the show. So, we're looking for someone to come hang out with us at our shows, and help run sound so I don't have to run around the room listening and adjusting the mix. You'd be treated as a true member of the band, with a job to do just like everyone else. You're not on beer duty or doing all the setup and breakdown on your own. You'd also get an equal cut of whatever we make for the night. Nobody's getting rich in this, but you can expect 50-100 a gig. Usually closer to 100. Plus free beers. Plus we think we're fun to hang out with. No experience required. It's not brain surgery running the mixer and I'll gladly teach you what I know. All you really need is to love music and have a decent ear. You also wouldn't need to commit to playing every gig. We're flexible and with 11 guys we never have everyone there every time. So if that kind of thing sounds fun to you, give us a shout. Could be a good opportunity for somebody who wants to get into the live sound field, or someone who likes the idea of being in a band but doesn't play an instrument.
