Description

Please Sign Up for Each Date Separately Attending all three days is encouraged. The Women’s Circle at Talmadge Hill will gather for a special three-part series to contemplate the Divine feminine within the Christian tradition. May 8th ~ “In the Beginning” We examine with the traditional telling of the Adam and Eve story and ask ourselves about the power of this traditional narrative to shape the roles of men and women in family, church and society. From there we will broaden our scope to look at Creation stories from spiritual traditions that celebrate the feminine face of God. May 22nd ~ “Goddess Remembered” We examine the feminine face of God before Christianity took root in the Western world. Feminist scholarship on the pre-historical worship of the divine feminine provides us a fuller understanding of the gendered dimensions of God. June 12th ~ “The Burning Times” We revisit the fate of women during the early centuries of Christianity. The Inquisition led to great suffering for women who practiced a faith that recognized the feminine face of God.
