The event will be led by Rosie Sanchez, a Birder of 14 years and the Rockies and Plains Program Coordinator for Defenders of Wildlife. From 5 - 7 p.m. on Colorado Public Lands Day (May 15th), we will be doing a short and easy hike around a pond in the park where we will learn how to identify and observe waterfowl, birds of prey, and ecosystems that inhabit healthy bird populations. We will provide the gear necessary for birding activities. You will need to bring a small backpack or bag to hold snacks, water, a raincoat/jacket, a face mask and layers in the case that the weather turns. Please wear comfy shoes. This event is free and park entrance will be waived for participants. About LO’s COVID-19 Guidelines After careful consideration and consultation with LO leaders about the resumption of in-person outings, we have implemented the following measures to allow us to safely gather in person while minimizing the risk of community spread: New policies and procedures All attendees must wear a mask for the entire duration of the gathering, except when eating or drinking, which must be done while maintaining social distance.
