Wright Brothers Farm is a family owned, organic vegetable farm focused on growing great tasting, nutritious, high quality fresh produce and herbs for chefs and families alike. We farm using sustainable practices in a way that preserves and enhances soil health, believing that we are temporary stewards of the soil with an obligation to leave it better than it was when first entrusted to us.
We have a full-time position open assisting in all phases of operations. You will be involved in caring for plants by seeding, transplanting, cultivating, weeding, thinning, and pruning. You will harvest, wash and pack produce. You will use hand tools, such as hoes, cultivators, shovels, pruner, shears, and knives. You will move and position woven ground cover, floating row cover and irrigation equipment.
Duties include use of power tools and mechanized equipment such as a walk behind BCS tractor with attachments (rotary harrow, rotary plow, tiller, flail mower, etc).
Must have reliable transportation to our farm location.
Must have prior relevant farm work experience.
Prefer demonstrated interest in organic farming principles and local agriculture.
Physical Job Requirements
Work in an outdoor environment for 8 hours a day with ability to tolerate both cool temperature in the spring and heat later in the summer.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items up 50 lbs.
Position
This is a full-time position through September, with the possibility of extending through November.
