Drummer assembling avant garde metal band

Meets

Byron Center MI

Description

Looking for musicians to form a project that's rooted mostly in Metal but with an eclectic/progressive/experimental side to it. Maybe add some atmospheric synth, noise rock, fuzz, funk, doom-gaze, lofi, psychedelic... Occasional non-traditional instruments and sound-scapes. Swells, crescendos -- Crazy guitar pedals, vocal effects, instrumentals, Bottom-line, just looking to keep it interesting, original and not afraid to experiment with different genres inside of well designed song structures. I've been posting ads similar to this one for many years, however I haven't really had much luck, mostly due to bad lifestyle choices and settling for projects where I compromise way to much on the bigger picture... I'm now closing in on 2 years alcohol free and I am starting to realize it is in my best interest to jam with people who are either clean and sober OR If they drink, they drink like an adult and have their vices tightly in check. I cannot hang with people who are getting f@#ked up to much or into dicey sh!t. No hard drugs. Have your own gear, etc. Be serious, be on time. I myself have not had a license for a while but I get where I need to be when I'm supposed to be there. Relicensure pending. For the most part I've got my sh!t together and I'm looking for people who also have their sh!t together... enough said for now. I am currently dabbling with other potential projects but am not 100% sure that they are the right fit for me yet. I rent my own rehearsal space in south GR, got a PA, drumset and a half-stack. I plan to run my rehearsal space like a co-op starting soon because it's expensive and I need to either get some money rolling in or go back to the basement for a couple more years... I'm very reasonable but I need a little kick-back from those committed to making music. If a project becomes serious and there is undeniable confidence in our bond as a band and the music is right, the lesser projects will be subbed out to a new drummer or put on pause. I know the concept of "hedging your bets" doesn't make sense to some musicians but it's just how I roll. It's how smart people roll if ya ask me! Why would anyone give another person or a band exclusive access to their time before it has been established through meritable actions? No one wants to get used & abused and end up with sh!t on their shoes! If I can even help carry two projects and everyone remains happy I will. Sorry for the rant, however this is important stuff to hash out. I plan to be working with 2-3 projects until the choice becomes obvious. I want to take steps away from the basement/garage into the local/regional professional territory if I can at all help it! I'm in my early 40's -- pretty much a centrist ideallogically and fairly domesticated. For you younger folks that may think I'm to old and crusty, I get it -- but let me just say for one, you might be passing something good up for no good reason and two, the blade cuts both ways... life is short and you also might be in your 40's someday making your last valiant efforts to do something with your talents. Food for thought! Anyhow, not saying I don't like edgy music just not into edgy people! If you're a militant/zealot anything... I don't mess with that. I'd like to call this project "Finding Zenith" (negotiable if you already have a similar vision and are a phenomenal song writer). Lyrical/Title content will have to do with things like: Love and love lost, relationships, humans overcoming struggle, the full range of emotions, chaos, beauty, addiction, mystery and abstract ideas, mythology, outer and inner space, humor, etc. Just intelligent, meaningful and soulful stuff... Supremacy, hate, satanic and gore need not apply. Thanks for looking. https://www.bandmix.com/finding_zenith/
