Description
On Christmas eve, Rep. Paul Gosar renewed his call for President Donald Trump to pardon his pal, former Rep. Rick Renzi, who served three years in prison for racketeering, money laundering and other federal crimes. In September 2006, Renzi was named one of the "20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress" in a report by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a non-partisan watchdog group. Renzi has been out of prison over 5 years now. The only purpose of a pardon now would be to let him back into politics, likely lobbying for the companies that once benefited from his corruption. Renzi was pardoned on Trump's last day in office, days after Paul Gosar objected to the certification of Arizona's vote. Quid pro quo.
