READING, MA — A mother duck and her ducklings made their annual pilgrimage through the halls of Coolidge Middle School and out to a pond Monday.
It's a tradition unique to the school, where the mother returns to lay her eggs in the courtyardeach year. Since the courtyard has no food or water, school staff escort the ducklings out to the pond once they hatch.
The video, shared by the Coolidge Middle School May 3, shows the 12 ducklings waddling behind their mother as employees guide them through the halls.

Similar events are held during the spring at Eisenhower Elementary School in Hopkins, Minnesota, and Glover Elementary School in Milton, among others.
