Goodbye, Fuller Middle School: Farewell Tours In May

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Current students and teachers may be looking for to the day when they put the battered Fuller Middle School building in the past. But many alumni from previous generations may have good memories of the soon-to-be demolished school, a piece of local history that was previously Framingham South High School (FSHS). For that reason, there will be a farewell tour of the building in May for anyone who either has fond memories of the school, or who just want to say goodbye. The 2020-21 school year is the last for Fuller. A new $98.3 million middle school is slated to open in the fall, and the old 1958 building will be torn down beginning this winter. The new building has been under construction since shovels hit the ground in June 2019. Fuller opened in 1993 after Framingham Public Schools consolidated the two high schools into one at the north campus. The school was named after a prominent Black couple, psychiatrist Dr. Solomon Fuller and sculptor Meta Fuller, who lived nearby the school along Warren Road. According to Noval Alexander, chair of the Fuller/FSHS Decommissioning Subcommittee, the farewell walkthrough will happen May 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone can attend, but attendees will need to register in advance due to coronavirus.
