Press release from Andover Public Schools: May 6, 2021 Dear Parents, Faculty and Staff; "Over the next two weeks, we have an opportunity to celebrate the tremendous efforts of two groups who are a core part of daily life in our schools, and who make immeasurable contributions to the district. While we're grateful for their work every day supporting our students' learning and health, I want to express my gratitude for their efforts during Teacher Appreciation Week, which is ongoing now, and National Nurses' Week next week. The last year has presented all of us with challenges we've never expected, and while countless families made the transition to working remotely, our teachers adapted and moved their classrooms online. In doing so, they kept their students engaged with one another and with their school community as a whole during a time when those connections became as important as ever. Our nurses have also been instrumental over the last year. They've supported contact tracing efforts, answered questions about COVID-19 and played a key role in helping the district finally make its long-awaited return to in-person learning. With schools open, our nurses are on the front line of ensuring the safety of our school community while providing invaluable care to students whenever a need arises. Teachers and nurses are the definition of essential workers -- they make our school community what it is and while "thank you" doesn't begin to suffice, I want to express my gratitude for their work each and every day, and for their unwavering commitment to supporting students regardless of the circumstances. Additionally, I invite parents, guardians and members of the community to express their gratitude for the commitment teachers and nurses have made by dedicating their lives to the wellness and wellbeing of Andover's children. The district's successes -- and indeed the successes our students will have as adults -- are very much a credit to those who have helped them along the way." Sincerely, Claudia This press release was produced by the Andover Public Schools. The views expressed are the author's own.
