STAMFORD, CT—Stamford Police have arrested two male juveniles - ages 15 and 17 - in connection to reports of shots fired which occurred in broad daylight earlier this week on Liberty Street. According to Capt. Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department, police units conducted two simultaneous pre-dawn raids on Thursday on Stillwater Avenue and Stone Ridge Circle. Authorities recovered a semi-automatic pistol from one of the locations, which is believed to have been used in the incident on Liberty Street. Pistol ammunition was also recovered. The 17-year-old was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession of a pistol without a permit, conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, criminal attempt in the first degree, and criminal attempt at assault in the first degree. The 15-year-old was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, and criminal attempt at robbery in the first degree. Both juveniles were detained and sent to Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center. The arrests stem from an incident which occured on Tuesday, May 4 shortly before 3 p.m. Officers responded to the area of 58-60 Liberty St. on numerous reports of gunshots. A scene was set-up, and several casings from two separate guns were recovered. Security footage from the neighborhood was also pulled and reviewed. Police believe the juveniles were part of a group of 3-4 people who engaged another male when shots were exchanged. "We still have very much an ongoing investigation, and we expect to have additional arrests from the incident going forward," Conklin said. In addition to the weapon found during Thursday's raids, authorities also recovered numerous items believed to be related to high-level felonies committed in Stamford in recent weeks. "The items seized will certainly be investigated in an attempt to try and tie them to these crimes," Conklin added.
