LANHAM, MD ā A fatal shooting in Lanham forced four nearby schools into temporary lockdowns Friday morning, officials said. Authorities clarified that the crime did not happen on a school campus, but it occurred a few blocks from the institutions. Meghan Gebreselassie, a spokesperson for Prince George's County Public Schools, informed that these facilities entered the lockdown and diverted buses: DuVal High SchoolRobert Goddard MontessoriCatherine T. Reed Elementary SchoolHoward B. Owens Science CenterRobert Goddard Bus Lot PGCPS indicated that it has since lifted these lockdowns. The locations are clustered together near the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Good Luck Road. Authorities noted that they arrived around 8:15 a.m. to find a man suffering from an upper-body wound. Medics took him to an unnamed hospital where he died soon after, an incident report added. Officers have not yet identified the victim. Detectives advised that they are still investigating a potential suspect and motive.
