Press release from the Arlington County Government: May 6, 2021 ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department and the Arlington County Sheriff's Office will host a virtual Observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day to honor and pay tribute to the memory of Arlington's seven fallen law enforcement officers. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. Arlington County's law enforcement agencies host a solemn ceremony each year ahead of National Police Week as part of our commitment to never forgetting the service and sacrifice of the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. Virtual Observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day Date: Monday, May 10, 2021 Time: 8:00 a.m. Location: Streamed live on Arlington County Government's Facebook page.
