PRINCETON, NJ — A Newark woman was charged with DWI, child endangerment, and other offenses after her car crashed into another vehicle on Route 1 North/Carnegie Center Drive intersection, West Windsor police.
On Thursday evening, Rosa Rahmaan was traveling with her 8-month-old infant on the left lane of US Route 1 North in a Gold Nissan Xterra. She swerved into the right lane striking a Mercedes Benz, police said.
According to the police, Rahmaan was under the influence during the time of the crash. The child suffered a contusion to the head while the driver of the Mercedes, a Monroe Township resident, suffered upper torso and head injuries, police said.
Rahmaan and the infant were transported to Capital Health Regional Hopewell Campus. Police said the infant was later turned over to DCC&P for emergent foster care.
Rahmaan was charged with DWI, child endangerment, assault by auto, driving while suspended, having an uninsured vehicle, and additional motor vehicle summonses.
Traffic along Route 1 was disrupted and diverted for over three hours.
Rahmaan was lodged at the Mercer County Workhouse pending a court appearance.
