The San Diego Police Department announced a DUI and license checkpoint somewhere in the city limits on Thursday night.
Officers will be stopping drivers between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. to check for alcohol and marijuana impairment as well as proper licensing.
The checkpoints are regularly announced several days in advance because of the deterrent effect on people who might drink or smoke to excess and then drive.
The latest checkpoint was announced late Thursday morning, with police urging residents who will be out at night to designate a sober driver or call a taxi or rideshare service.
