BERKELEY, CA — The city of Berkeley has hit a vaccine milestone, with more than 50 percent of its residents fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, Mayor Jesse Arreguín said in a statement Thursday. The East Bay city's vaccination rate tops both the nation and state vaccination rates by wide margins. The U.S. and California are both reporting 32 percent of residents are fully vaccinated as of Thursday "The success of Berkeley's COVID-19 vaccine rollout is a testament to the tireless efforts of our frontline workers and the resiliency of this community," Arreguín said in a statement. "As the pace of vaccinations slows across the country, it is critical that our city remains vigilant. I urge everyone to get vaccinated to protect yourself and the surrounding community. This is how we get back to business in Berkeley." Berkeley reported more good news on the coronavirus front Thursday. It's seven-day positivity rate as of Thursday was 0.22 percent with two average daily cases over the same period. Berkeley's COVID-19 dashboard can be viewed here.
