This position is approximately 5-20 hours a week, on an as-needed basis, depending on events in the church. Shifts are mostly on weekends and evenings. There may also be occasional shifts on weekdays during daytime hours. Basic Function: Under general supervision, individual is directly responsible for cleaning of the facility, attending to congregants on Sundays and space users during an event. When serving as an attendant, employee is responsible for unlocking/opening doors, set up and breakdown of tables and chairs, lockup and securing entire building. Must complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner and perform routine daily and weekly tasks. Responsibilities: Set up and take down for events and other various building related tasks as needed. Clean common areas, hallways, offices, meeting rooms, kitchen, restrooms; Remove trash daily. Maintain accurate inventory of janitorial supplies and paper products; Submit request when supplies are needed. Complete basic exterior grounds cleaning, shovel snow as needed. Report to supervisor; Keep a running list of recently completed tasks, stay on track with all cleaning and event schedules, communicate any issues that require immediate attention. Act as a representative of Pilgrim Church and be on hand for any space users’ needs during events. Handle minor emergencies that may arise such as plunging toilets or cleaning up spills. Ensure the building is completely secure after worship services or other events. All doors must be locked/magnetized and lights turned off. Must be able to accurately balance Pilgrim's needs with those of individuals using the space. Communicate with Property Manager about all weekend and evening happenings and/or any concerns. Position Requirements: Ability to perform heavy lifting of 30-50 pounds, walking, stooping, climbing ladders. Must have good oral, written and interpersonal communications skills. Must be open to feedback and able to communicate clearly with supervisor about any work related concerns. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Must have reliable transportation Must be a team player and must be reliable. Must be able to work independently. Must punch in and out using Pilgrim's swipe card with Pilgrim's time clock. Employee will be hired on a 90-day trial period by Pilgrim Congregational UCC. The hourly pay rate will start at $12.50 per hour. Within 90 days there will be a review with a member of the personnel committee present and the employee will be considered for continued employment and a possible pay raise of $.50 per hour.
