Description
Hey Portland jazz players and hip hop heads,
Are you a competent musician looking for people to play with? Well, look no further!
Our newly born hip-hop jazz collective is looking to collaborate with new local musicians, artists, producers and audio engineers.
WHO WE ARE
Our current roster consists of a drummer, bass, rhodes, guitar, alto sax, tenor sax and trumpet. Everyone is competent at their instruments, some people are even experts.
Our interests are at the intersection of jazz, hip-hop, funk, soul, and neo-soul music. Stuff like D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Robert Glasper, Bill Evans, The Roots, Khruangbin, Butcher Brown, ATCQ, EW&F, J Dilla, etc.
WHO YOU ARE
First and foremost, you love to play jazz-inspired hip-hop, soul, and funk music, and you are good at it! You got rhythm and syncopation, you know what 2-5-1s are, you know what minor 9th chords are, etc.
Secondly, you have a team-oriented attitude. Rather than playing too much, you actively listen for places where you can best fit in the mix. Sitting back and having an attitude that "less is more" is appreciated and encouraged!
THE LOCATION
We play out of our basement studio. It's still in development but we have a Gretsch jazz drum kit, Yamaha piano, Fender Rhodes, korg sv1, guitars, bass, amps, PAs, synthesizers, mixing board, and mics.
Give me a text or call if you're interested.
