Safety and Efficacy of Psilocybin for Body Dysmorphic Disorder (IRB# 7950)
Please note that this is an opportunity to participate in research for compensation and is not a job
posting.
-Are you concerned about the appearance of a certain part your body (such as your hair, skin, or
nose)?
-Do you spend a lot of time checking how you look in the mirror, asking others how you look, or
thinking about parts of your body that you dislike?
-Do you avoid certain situations or try to hide parts of your body because you worry that people
will judge you for your appearance?
You may be eligible to participate in a research study about how psilocybin can be used to treat
body dysmorphic disorder.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
People between the ages of 18 and 55 who have body dysmorphic disorder and are able to travel
to the New York State Psychiatric Institute (1051 Riverside Drive) in Manhattan
PROCEDURES:
l) Initial screening by phone
2) If eligible, an in-person psychiatric evaluation, clinical assessment, physical exam and health
assessment (including an EKG, blood test, and urine test)
3) If eligible, 1 baseline visit prior to the treatment visit that includes a description of the
treatment visit and an MRI scan
4) If eligible, the following day you will receive a dose of psilocybin while under the supervision
of a therapist
5) 6 follow-up assessments over a period of 12 weeks, two of which are completed over the
phone
This is not a part-time job. Compensation is being provided for participation in a research study.
