Building Attendant Regular, Full-Time, Non-exempt, 12-Month Position See below for schedule (6 positions available) Salary: $16.12 per hour ABOUT POMONA COLLEGE: Located near Los Angeles, California, Pomona College is widely regarded as one of the nation's premier liberal arts colleges. Pomona is a member of The Claremont Colleges. POSITION SUMMARY: The Building Attendant performs routine and non-routine duties related to the housekeeping operations at the College. This position participates in the set-up and breakdown for special events, moves furniture, and maintains facilities in clean, orderly, and safe conditions. The Building Attendant also performs a variety of cleaning tasks requiring physical fitness, safe working methods, and knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, tools and equipment and how they are safely and effectively used in practice. The Building Attendant assigned to Inventory and Supplies responsibilities ensures that all cleaning materials are picked up, sanitized and delivered to buildings around the campus. Essential functions include, but are not limited to cleaning offices, classrooms, rest rooms, and residential quarters; servicing dispensing machines; securing facilities; maintain supplies; and responding to emergency requests. QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School Diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability. A minimum of 1 year of paid employment experience doing custodial or building maintenance assignments is required. Experience at an academic institution is preferred. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, push, pull, stoop, twist, stretch, lift up to 50 pounds from ground to waist level without assistance, climb ladders up to 6 feet with assistance. A valid driver’s license is required or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events. Must satisfactorily complete a post-offer functional capacity test. REQUIRED HOURS: Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the College or division schedule. 40 hours per week; 5 days per week. Overtime, holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required.
