Description

I am real and need to rehome Fluffy, please don't flag my ad! I forgot to put the rehoming fee part in the original ad but have added it now. We will be moving to the country soon and really need to find him a great home before then! Hello, this cute kitty’s name is “Fluffy” and he is nearly 9 months old. :) Please note, a rehoming fee will apply to ensure he goes to a good home. We would really like him to go to an experienced, patient cat person and as an INDOOR ONLY cat. He's ginger / orange and is part Maine Coon (his dad was half MC) so he will be bigger (10-ll lbs now) than a typical adult male cat so please take that into consideration. I would not recommend him for a home with someone elderly or older or with physical disabilities as he tends to lay in the floor and not move so he could be a tripping hazard. We will include our furminator grooming tool for him if you need it, it’s really helpful for his longer fur! He has never had a fur mat even though he has long fur, combing helps with that. He has only ever had one hair ball. We will also include some food for you to transition him over to whatever you use. Right up front I will say that we are having issues with him going to the bathroom outside of his litterbox sometimes and also scratching doors and other things even though we have scratch toys, etc. for him. It is sometimes pee and sometime poop. Additionally, because of the long fur near his bum sometimes you might find a little poop nugget on the floor. It is only an occasional thing and he doesn't do that particular thing intentionally. These are NOT the only reasons we are looking to rehome him. As mentioned above, we are moving to the country in a couple of months and he is terrified of the outdoors (see further down for more on that). He uses the litterbox but I guess he never really learned to cover his leavings properly but he does use it most of the time just fine. We have tried to figure out if there is some “cause” but there doesn’t seem to be. He has done it even when the litterbox has been freshly changed and we keep up with cleaning it. I know this might sound strange to some but we are thinking it might be when our daughter is not here as some sort of anxiety or punishment when she is gone/gets back as he has used her clothes but also other clothes and areas of the house too. He is getting more responsive to us when we tell him verbally not to scratch, he will often stop right away or just after and sometimes even right before, he knows it’s not a good behavior (though natural for cats). His birthdate was 8/13/2020 so he will be 9 months old this month. He is still intact and has not been declawed. He has not been to a vet for a rabies shot/vetting yet due to all the 2020/2021 craziness, masks, shut downs, and all that stuff since. He has only ever had one upset stomach/diah. when we switched foods (we think that was the cause) but he’s been fine since we switched back. He has mostly been on grain-free, rather expensive cat food and occasionally we’ll mix in some mostly grain free with rice as a main “grain”. Unfortunately we discovered fleas on him as/after we were picking him up when he was a kitten. We have been very afraid to try the flea and tick medications or shampoos because there are so many adverse reactions and health issues reported that we held off because we were afraid something would happen to him/his health/his skin. We do bath him periodically and also try to pick them off when we can grab any we see but they are still an issue and will need a remedy. We tend to lean towards more natural treatments and have been looking into them but would welcome suggestions for non-pharma type solutions if someone has one or more that really works for this. His fur is really thick/dense/fluffy so we find it hard to catch them and very rarely ever find them anywhere else in the house. We know raw apple cider vinegar in the water can help but he refuses to drink it. One of the reasons we are seeking a new home for him is because we are moving to the country in a couple of months and if you even stand by an open door with him in your arms, he is terrified of the outdoors and scrambles to get away from you and the door. We're concerned that if he ever got outside he'd be petrified and not do well. He is NOT declawed so could maybe hunt for himself but we wouldn't want to lose him that way if he was to get out and go missing, etc. He is very fluffy and lovable and usually wants loving when he wants it and not necessarily when you do, (typical cat, lol). He was around children, other cats, and some dogs in the home we got him from when he was 8 weeks old. Since then he has been around a toddler, two other kids, and one other cat. He is usually very patient with our toddler and will get up and move away if he’s annoyed (we also monitor our toddler and teach him to be kind to him, etc.). He LOVES cardboard boxes, grocery bags, tubs, totes, anything he can fit into and even some he can’t, lol (see pics). He doesn’t really like heights and sometimes has to be helped down if he gets in higher places. We have a plush cylinder type tummy kicker toy he likes so if we can find it you can have that for him as well! He does sometimes like toys that crinkle, he loves those mylar balls and gift tissue paper. When playing he prefers interaction with people versus just playing with stuff on his own but does that some too. He doesn’t usually mind being groomed and actually enjoys it as long as you’re careful around sensitive areas (stomach, arms, etc.). He doesn’t seem to mind wearing a harness or collar (just has to get used to it) or outfit when my daughter has tried making clothes for him, lol. He sometimes sleeps in laundry hampers. He does sometimes like being rubbed on his chest between his front legs. My daughter wants me to include that she has started trying to work on a “touch command” with him like you can do with dogs but that’s still really early on. Instead of treats she gives him attention and pets him when he comes. He does get treats at other times though and will often come when the treat bottle gets shaken up. His favorite flavor of dry treat is salmon but he likes chicken too. He likes the Rachel Ray treats. For wet food, his favorites are Rachel Ray ones but he does eat others. We also sometimes buy cans of salmon and tuna, etc. from the pet or human food aisle (sometimes cheaper) and very carefully make sure they have usually only water and salt added. If you have made it through all of the above, thank you for taking the time to do so. Please email if you are interested in giving Fluffy a home and we can discuss rehoming details, meeting point, etc. via email only as the spam is real and the scams are annoying. Please include fluffy2021 in your email subject line so I’ll know not to ignore it. Thanks and have a blessed day!
